Topicals founder Olamide Olowe is in the business of scaling her beauty brands. Amid challenges to resurrect Bread Beauty Supply, a haircare brand she acquired through her holding company Cost of Doing Business (CODB,) Olowe is now putting even more into her industry-leading success at skincare brand Topicals. Except, this time, it’s by stepping down as CEO.

With the brand now at a scale that requires even more external expertise, Sukiana Chancy, former general manager of Fenty Beauty, will now assume the executive role while Olowe remains involved in day-to-day operations. “I wanted to partner with someone who has worked their way up through marketing, built a global brand, and managed a profit-and-loss sheet much larger than ours,” Olowe told The Business of Beauty this morning.

Alone, Olowe raised $15 million dollars in venture capital, received investments from Angel Reese and Rema, and turned Topicals into the fastest-growing skincare brand at Sephora. Although, with the direction of Chancy, she says her goal is to drive the brand to number one.

“I truly never thought I’d ever step down from my dream job at Fenty,” Chancy wrote in an Instagram post. However, “I am grateful to the full Topicals team for a warm welcome and I am excited to work alongside Olamide Olowe to fan the flames on the dope brand that she’s geniously built.”

Known famously for their Faded Brightening and Clearing Eye Masks, Topicals has turned into a skincare powerhouse in less than six years. As a brand centered on fading hyperpigmentation, specifically for darker skin tones, its latest Sephora launch is pushing Faded Dark Spot Peel Pads as one of the brand’s most scientific  innovations to date.

Now, with Chancy at the helm, the future of Topicals is only looking brighter.
