Samuel L. Jackson is headed to Texas. Paramount+ has released first-look images from Frisco King, the upcoming Tulsa King spinoff led by the Oscar-nominated actor.
Jackson stars as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a New Orleans native with a history as a hitman for the New York mob. Viewers first met Lee during the third season of Tulsa King, where his connection to Dwight Manfredi, played by Sylvester Stallone, began to unfold.
The two men met while serving time in federal prison, where Dwight saved Lee’s life roughly two decades earlier. Their history becomes important when Lee is later asked to kill Dwight. He refuses the assignment and eventually leaves his old life behind for Frisco, Texas, where he sets out to build a business of his own.
The newly released images offer an early glimpse of Jackson in the role as the franchise prepares to expand beyond Oklahoma. Frisco King was filmed in Fort Worth beginning in March 2026.
Taylor Sheridan, who created Tulsa King, will write all eight episodes of the spinoff’s first season. He also serves as an executive producer alongside Jackson and Stallone.
Jackson previously appeared as Lee in the Tulsa King Season 3 episodes “Dead Weight” and “Jesus Lizard.” The role gives the veteran actor his own entry in Sheridan’s growing slate of television projects after decades of work in film.
The supporting cast includes Asa Germann, Kai Caster and Lilah Pate. Savanna Gann will also appear in the series.
Originally developed under the title NOLA King, the project was later renamed Frisco King, reflecting Lee’s decision to leave his past behind and begin his next chapter in Texas. Paramount+ has not announced a premiere date for the series, but it will stream exclusively on the platform.
